after the cruise, we hung out at oktoberfest and did the polka with some cubs fans that would not leave us alone. who can really blame them though?? we are fun girls.
(not long after this picture was taken, that dude got arrested. not really sure why. maybe because he's a cubs fan??)
woke up on saturday with a little bit of a margarita induced headache and decided it would be a perfect day to do all the cooking that i have been talking about for weeks. i need to learn how to cook because i'm sick of spending money on going out to eat, and plus, i just need to learn how to cook.
i decided on a vegetarian tortilla soup that has lots of protein in it (which i need). it turned out super delicious.

and i made some homemade wheat bread....who would have thought that i could make bread?? it's crazy, i know. i even impressed myself.

on sunday, my mom and i did the susan g. komen race for the cure. the weather was crappy, but i didn't matter..there were still over 12,000 people there who raised over $1 million. this year, we raced in celebration of my aunt mary who beat breast cancer and my auntie marilyn who is currently beating her second round of breast cancer (and she is kicking cancer's ass).

Hi sweetie - I just got done filling 160 goodie bags for tomorrow's United Way event. Anyway, I read your update about the weekend and congratulations on your soup and bread! The bread looks great! Okay, so finally to the real reason I am writing - you actually made me tear up when you mentioned who you and Aunt Katie did the walk for - 2008 is Aunt Mary's 10-year anniversary since being cleared of breast cancer...let's say a prayer for at least 10 more years. Love you very much, Ya
Awesome post! You ROCK!!!!!!
Ok, so first, I'm SO proud of your cooking skills! Check out that bread - I can't make bread.
Second. Thanks for loving your women and doing the Race for the Cure.
Third, I love your "cancer sucks" tag. :)
