i'd like to dedicate my very first post to my mom, as her bday is on saturday. we will be in viroqua for erika's wedding so i'm posting a few days early.
my mom is amazing. i'm sure most people say that about their mom, but i can assure you that my mom trumps your mom anyday.
my mom worked her ass off to raise three (perfect) kids by herself.
my mom supported me when i thought that changing my major to sociology was a good idea or when i decided that i wanted to move from oshkosh to milwaukee, or any other crazy idea i ever had.
my mom drives to my apartment at 6am when i have the flu because i want her to sit in the bathroom with me while i throw up.
my mom gives me advice, but lets me make decisions even when she knows it may be a mistake.
my mom lets me come over (at least) four times a week for a meal because i hate cooking and grocery shopping.

my mom is the most unselfish person in the world.
my mom is beautiful, inside and outside.
my mom is the first person i call when i'm excited, mad, have good/bad news to share.
my mom sat through a billion soccer games, swim meets and cheerleading competitions.
my mom is the hardest worker i know.
my mom loves her husband and children unconditionally, no matter what.

my mom tells me she's proud of me, and i know she means it.
if i'm ever half the mom that she is, i will be satisfied.
every once in awhile, i catch myself doing something that is very "katie-like" and i realize that i'm turning into my mom. i'm ok with that. i am my mother's daughter.
happy birthday, mom.
Count your night by stars, not shadows.
Count your days by smiles, not tears.
And on any birthday morning,
Count your days by smiles, not tears.
And on any birthday morning,
Count your age by friends, not years.

Aaaawwww Aimee, I love this post. I just saw you listed on my blog as a follower. I didn't know you had a blog! I'll be checking in...
happy birthday mom!
Ohhhhhhh my Lord! Aimee, you are a wonderful niece. Thank you for posting this blog and sharing your pictures.
And, of course, I feel the same pride in your mother. There are times that I feel sad that I am not around my family, but you made me sooooooo happy with your post! And, I wouldn't have expected anything less (about your mom), after all...she was a sibling of John's, and a daughter of one of the greatest female heroes of my time.
I love you, girl!
