sometimes you get the chance to do something that you know will change you forever.
last night, i got home from guatemala completely drained. physically, emotionally, mentally. drained. but at the same time, i feel better than i ever have. i feel completely full of love, faith and hope. love for the people that served with me, love and hope for a community in guatemala, love for the people that work at potter's house, and an overflowing love for God.
it's an amazing feeling, knowing that you made a real difference in someone's life. knowing that, even if for just a week, you made it a little better. i have so much respect for the missionaries who do this day in and day out in other countries, who give everything of themselves for other people and for God.
throughout the week i was humbled and amazed more times than i could count. i wouldn’t trade that feeling in for anything.
these people i met...people who live in a garbage dump, who are hungry and dirty and love God so much that it puts my faith to shame...they are my heroes. my heroes have unfailing smiles. they remain positive in situations where i would break. they are stronger than anyone i know.
these are the bravest people i know.
these are the people who, unknowingly, became my role models.
they are some of the most amazing people i've ever met. ever.
i wish i had more to say right now, but i can't find the right words.
i heard this song on the way to work and started crying because it has such a different meaning to me now.
you're the God of this city
you're the King of these people
you're the Lord of this nation
you're the light in this darkness
you're the hope to the hopeless
you're the peace to the restless
there is no one like our God
greater things have yet to come
and greater things are still to be done in this city
