i spent most of last week trying to decide what i was going to do with my long weekend. because christopher columbus accidentally "discovered" america and massacred/enslaved a bunch of native americans, i got monday off. i had a few options for the weekend but finally decided on thursday at midnight that my sister and i would go meet up with some family on my dad's hunting property which is lovingly referred to as "the shack." so we were off to pittsville, wi, where the fall colors were just starting to peak.

(this is where i enlighten you with some great information-get excited)

did you know that pittsville is the exact center of wi? yeah, i didn't either. luckily, they have a sign so everyone that drives through pittsville (and by everyone, i mean no one. who drives th
rough pittsville?) knows that they are currently located in the very center of the state.

we spent most of the weekend hanging out at the neighbor's farm. actually, i spent most of the weekend hiding from the momma bear that i heard has been lurking around the area. (note to self: must explain irrational fear of bears to all friends/family sometime soon). when i wasn't looking over my shoulder for the killer bear, i was hanging out with some awesome animals.

i also spent the weekend hanging out with afton, the coolest 6 year old in the world. she is cool because she is just like me, except 20 years younger. she is sassy and stubborn and mischievous and if i ever have a daughter, i want her to be just like afton. we sang songs and ran around and danced and i acted like i was 6 again. it was great.

overall, another great weekend. my cell phone was off and i tried my best to not think about work. thanks to the santa maria, nina and pinta for landing on our shores and allowing me to have this wonderful long weekend.

now i'm off to vegas to drink, eat, and lose a bunch of money.
